Shake it like a caveman one man band was born Blake "Snake" Burris in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
An early life of sports laid the foundation for what is now one of the most athletic rock n roll explosions touring today!
The set up is simple but the sounds are massive.
The "all live" no loops, no pedals show is pulsating electro blues beat of the kick drum, hi hat, slide guitar, harmonica and vocals. The name was taken from the hypnotic effect the sounds have on audiences causing them to "shake it like a caveman.”
The show has toured festival stages, cafes, bars, trailers, boats, streets, mountaintops and racetracks in Europe, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Mexico, Iceland and the USA.
Shake it like a caveman currently resides in the mountains of Western North Carolina. High energy performances have kept the show in demand for European festival bookings and street events. Shake it like a caveman has even been know to jump his own guitar cable in jump rope style while performing encores.
The latest live record called "When you smile i see your Fangs" has been released in France and distributed throughout Europe on Beast records. The first pressing of the record has already sold out. At the moment we are expecting a new release this spring 2012.
“The sounds protruding from Shake It Like a Caveman were something extraordinary and profound, a noise like no other, completely unexpected, positively staggering. It is a one man band with the power of a four man band. A man by the name of Snake plays guitar, drums and harmonica while also providing the vocals. It was incredible, to say the least. The show was not only impressive because of the one-man-band exhibition. It was the unique character and musical genius that made this much more than a spectacle. Wearing zebra striped pants and 80s sunglasses, The Snake looked as if he did not just play the music, he was the music. Every fiber of his being seemed to encompass the pure wildness of it. It's impossible to sit completely still in that robot state we often find ourselves in. Instead, you are alive and wild. Not a foot in the place did not tap, or a head not bounce, not one body left motionless. The simplest way to put it: Shake it Like a Caveman produced music that felt like freedom. It was all over the place, but completely together.” - Louisiana Review
“That rolling early days ZZ Top thing, damn fine album, damn fine no messing lo-fi raw live real sound... .. Authentic broken down no messing proper sounding old school blues that is good for your soul.”
–Organ- London, England
“Exuberant and gritty garage-stomp. Instantly, this music spoke to me".... Nashville Scene
